One down, one to go

Casting on...

Woke up fairly early today and got straight on with my knitting. Managed to finish the first sock! It fits like a glove... like a sock would be more useful but it'll do.

I really love the yarn, I might have to get some more for myself! I'm hoping S's feet are the exact same size as mine though or I might have to keep them... Hmmm...
"Sorry S they fit me too well! No way will they fit you this well... Happy Birthday though!"
Hmm.. No, won't go down well...

We went to Cromer today. I like the sea side but I don't like getting sand between my toes, it bugs me for the rest of the day...

We ate in a nice pub, The Red Lion. A did have to save me from a deadly killer moth though... It was the size of a small bird! (If that small bird happened to be the size of a normal sized moth...)
I've never liked things that flap at me, pigeons, butterflies, moths, bats... anything that could get tangled in my hair or get to close to my face really... But A saved me, he got a glass and a coaster and managed to throw it outside, he had a small crowd of people watching him as he tried to get this moth into the glass (He didn't seem too keen on it either...)

So after an eventful day of sock knitting and killer moth avoiding I'm hoping to get a good restful nights sleep before we travel the 5 hours back to Manchester tomorrow.

Another year older

Casting on...

Today was my birthday! Happy birthday me!
I had a wonderful day with A, my mum and my dad.
A has been teasing me for days about what he got me and he made me open my presents in the order that would most confuse me...

Came first...
Then...

Followed by...

So I was pretty confused by this point!
Then I got these two...

Which didn't make things any clearer...
But then all was cleared up by the last two!

Got to be one of the best presents ever! A home made hand dying kit! I can't wait to get started!

My mum and dad got me a voucher for their local yarn shop Norfolk Yarns (Got to be one of my favourite yarn shops!) So I bought enough wool to make a lovely cardigan - February Lady Sweater. (Ravelry link)

Now I've had 18 birthdays and I think it's pretty safe to say that even in Manchester it tends to be sunny on the 27th July. It's nice, I like the sun and it's much more fun to shop and play (latter applying [mostly] to my younger years) when it's sunny. I've been in Norwich which is a much drier city than Manchester and I've only seen it rain twice!...

... Well three times now...

But it did make for a beautiful sunset...

I hope that today marks the start of a good year of hand dying... But not rain...

Long time no knit!

Casting on...

It's been a while and the reason being, I've done nothing! I hit a bit of a knitting lull.
After finishing A's never ending scarf I didn't really want to knit. Thankfully it only lasted about a week and then I got going again!

So after finishing the scarf I started some socks for A's sister (S). She asked for some a while ago and her birthday is coming up in a few months so I thought I'd get a head start and get them done way in advance.
My knitting plan for Birthdays and Christmas started on the 1st June for Birthdays and the 1st August for Christmas. I really want to have all my birthday presents finished before August and so far I'm doing well!

I've made some really good time on the socks, started on Wednesday and I've only got the foot left on the first one (good time for me...) I really love the yarn!

Opal, using the King Cole "Zig Zag" Pattern.

I'm also making myself a jumper.

Wendy, Mistral Chunky. I'm using a Wendy pattern as a guide.

I'm still working on the scarf for A's mum but as it's a Christmas present it's been put to the bottom of the list.

Me and A are in Norwich at the moment visiting my mum and dad and yesterday they all turned against me and told me I wasn't allowed to knit!... At all!... For the rest of the day, at least! They told me it was for my own good. They obviously weren't thinking about their own good... I can get pretty... lets just say... Annoyed... When I can't knit...
Note: No parents or fiances were harmed during my no knitting period
Sure I was getting mild RSI in my wrist, which could end up pretty painful if I didn't rest it but I have projects that need finishing!

Thankfully they have told me that as long as I take breaks regularly I can knit today (I think they realised I could potentially be a public health risk...) So I've got on with the socks! Hoping to have them finished before we go home.

Pictures and Projects

Casting on...

I have blocked the Baby Cardigan, it looks really great! I gave it to my friend today and she put it on her within seconds!

The pattern is Boheme
I used James C. Brett, Stonewash which I had set aside for a cardigan for myself, but as it had already taken me about a year to do 4inch of ribbing I thought it was best for me and for the yarn to give up...

Here's a picture of the scarf I did for my friend.

I seem to have lost the ball band for this... So when I find out what it is I'll let you know.

Currently I'm putting off the two main projects that I really need to get finished by doing a scarf for A. I wanted it to have vertical stripes (Running the length rather than width) so I have hundreds of stitches on my needles and I'm knitting across the length (To avoid changing colour every 4 stitches).
I must have some kind of scarf bug I've made/am making 3 in the past few weeks! It's not even cold!!

I now have another new baby to knit for! It's hard to make things during the summer wouldn't want to poor thing to bake in a little jumper... Any suggestions for a boy?

Right back to my never ending scarf!
