Catch up

Casting on...

A few bits to update you on, firstly my knitting nightmare came true! You know when your knitting socks and you pass the empty needle into your other hand to sort stitches out? (Maybe just me...) Every time I do it I have a vision that instead of pulling the empty needle from my hand a pull the needle that's holding all my stitches, I though it was a silly fear until it happened... and worst of all it happened on the train which meant I couldn't show my true feelings for the situation, I had to suppress the desire to cry, rip the whole sock back and kill the man opposite with the now empty needle, I had to take a deep breath and pick up every single little stitch. Then I stupidly knit a round before counting I had the correct number of stitches! Luckily the knitting gods where to busy laughing at my anguish to be cruel enough to have me miss a stitch!

After the nightmare was over I powered through the sock and got them finished two weeks before my (reset) deadline of 19th May. I also finished another sock, just the one yes the other was knit along time ago... or so it feels... Sadly I don't have the same joyful feeling when I look at it as I do when I look at the others... Hope the recipient doesn't mind them!

Two surprise projects have come along a pinwheel blanket and a lovely multi-coloured shawl (Or maybe a blanket...) I've been having a lot of fun with them both. The pinwheel is being knit in a yarn I got for Christmas of my host it's a Rowan Luxury Cotton. Lovely!
The Shawl (Or blanket) is being knit in a yarn I have fallen head over heels for! So much so that I added another 6 balls to my original purchase of 2 just because it's so lovely to knit with, very soft and light and it doesn't make my fingers hurt when it rubs against them! Love it!!

So much stash!

Casting on...

So a few weeks ago I though I'd have a look through my stash so I tipped it out on to A so he could see it too... Here is the result.

Competition!

Casting on...

So on Tuesday A called me and said "My friends fiancée is learning to knit and now he has a phone sock... Can you make me a better one?" So we talked about what he wanted and when I had picked his colours and style I was happy to start! I finished it yesterday and I'm really happy with it! So happy with it in fact that my phone is keeping the sock warm for his phone until tomorrow. I think I'll have to start myself a matching one and we can have His and Hers phone socks!

The brooches have been a big hit! I've sold a few and people seem to really like them which is good! I'll be taking them to "Knit one, Sip two" this evening to show them off a bit more!

Lastly, my dad has planted he socks and is waiting for them to grow... more on this at a later date!

Felting fun!

Casting on...

I've got some pictures of my felting!

Yup! Hand felted the first square which came out great! Didn't take a picture though.
I then machine felted then next square which came out much more felted but very fluffy and soft so I loved that one!

Here are pictures of what I'm doing with it!

It's so much fun! I love picking which bits to sew on. I've got two that I don't like as much but someone might! You can see spome more pictures here Busymitts

The Kettle

Casting on...

Hope you had a lovely Easter! I did, it was wonderfully warm in Norwich with my parents and A.
I got a little bit of knitting done, finished the first of a pair of red leg warmers and I'm on the turn of my heel in a pair of socks.
Though while we were there the strangest thing happened a man gave us a kettle. Just walked up to us and gave us a kettle, an old scummy dirty kettle! It was fantastically strange! We handed it into the lady at the desk of the hotel and she was just as bemused as we were!

Since being back from Norwich I've started making squares from felting. I'm going to make them into brooches for gifts!

I'm going away today to Spring Harvest, so any posts for the next few days will be from my phone and will be short (It takes a lot of time to type on a tiny keyboard).

My crime... Not swatching

Casting on...

I've finished my jumper! The first jumper ever made by my own hands! I was so excited when I got to the sewing together and was even more excited when all the stripes lined up! I couldn't wait to wear it! It's to small... The sleeves are to short, the neckband is to tight and the body doesn't even pretend to cover enough of my tummy... Next time I'll be doing a tension square and measuring myself properly... I'm still pleased with it! It will fit someone I'm sure and I was very impressed with myself that I managed to A) Finish it in a month, and B) Finish it at all! Not a complete waste of time I now have the no excuse not to do another one and I really like the style of this one so I might start it again soon.

On Sat Knit 1 Sip 2 (My local knitting group) took a trip to Liverpool and when to Make, Do and Knit. It was great! Not to big so we could get round it in a day with plenty of time for cups of tea and cake half way through. So much beautiful hand dyed and hand spun wool! I had given myself a budget, I didn't even spend it all (just most of it)! We did some "Big knitting" which was great fun and I almost invested in some 2 foot long needles. It was lovely to have a knitty day out. I'll get some pictures of my "investments" up soon.

Maybe Easter...

Casting on...

Firstly sorry for leaving you with nothing to read, A has been demanding a lot of my attention since he's back for Easter (Part-timers! Pift!).

I've not done enough knitting lately. I've been day dreaming about it and thinking about what I'll make next but sleeves are hard work! The only way I'll get this jumper finished by Sat is if I cancel all my clubs from tomorrow, tell A he has to find something to do until Sat and lock myself away for the next two days...Sadly I don't think that would go down to well with school or Church... So I'll have to get working and try to get it finished for Easter Sunday! I can wear it on my early morning walk and then show it off to a Church in Norwich! When it is finished I must remember not to over wear it, I think it's going to take some recovering before I start on my next one...
